WE ARE BACK!!!
Despite the bad weather we kicked off our 2026 season last weekend with a number of teams on the field. First out were our U15s who were taking part in the John West sponsored Feile na Gael. Our lads had a great weekend winning both games in their group to progress to the next stage this week. For more info on this please follow the link here U15 Feile 2026
Intermediates:
Up next our Intermediates played Galbally in the first round of the revamped Intermediate county League at home in Cappagh. Considering the weather all week the pitch was deemed playable and credit to all those who helped ensure it was ready!!
With a number of lads missing through injury and county commitments our team changed a lot from the one that finished the 2025 season. This gave an opportunity for others to get on the pitch and they didn't disappoint! From the off our lads played with composure against a strong wind to go in at the break leading by a point 1-3 to 0-5, the goal coming from our Joint Captain Barry Lenihan. The second half was a similar affair with both teams creating chances and working hard with only 2 points separating them at the 50 minute mark. From here however we managed to outscore our opponents 6 points to 3 with the aid of 2x 2 pointers from Markus Vang. Well done to all the lads as it is a great start to the year and so important to get the two points on the board!!
At 2pm on Saturday the Limerick U20s played Waterford in the first round of Championship. Cappagh GAA club were well represented on the panel with Darragh O Carroll, Cian Costelloe, Owen Dee and Aidan O Shea (VC) all involved with the panel for 2026. Unfortunately for the lads the result didn't go our way meaning they go to Tipperary this weekend needing a win to stay in the A competition. For more info on this follow the link here
Finally on Sunday evening our U19 girls played Ahane in their first round of the league, With a lot of girls missing due to other commitments it was great to get a team out and give a good account of themselves against very strong opposition. Well done to all And best of luck for the year ahead!!
Next up our U15s play on thursday evening the 19th In a prelim Quarter final. Our Adult mens teams have a two week break for hurling with the next fixture away to St Senans. Easter weekend.
